Coleman Parents and Guardians,
Our Read-A-Thon is in the final stretch! Although there is no school tomorrow for scholars, they can still participate by reading at home and earning prizes.

Your scholar should have brought home a Read-A-Thon packet with instructions on how to join and log their reading. This is a great opportunity for students to earn rewards simply by reading and tracking their minutes.
Join today and keep the reading going!

We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on
https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/dwIXEL/1?utm=email and following the simple instructions.

📣 Important Dismissal Update – Effective Immediately

To ensure we maximize all instructional time, there will be NO student checkout after 2:40 PM each day.

Why this change?
The final portion of the school day is critical for learning. During this time, students review key skills, receive homework support, organize materials, and prepare for the next day. Early checkouts cause students to miss valuable instruction and create disruptions in classrooms. Limiting early dismissals also helps us maintain a safe, calm, and focused learning environment for all students.

We sincerely thank our parents and guardians for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work together to make Coleman Elementary a place where learning is required and great behavior is expected.

Thank you for partnering with us to put student learning first.

Early Dismissal School Policy Update
Congratulations to our four amazing scholars that represented Watson Chapel at the Regional Spelling Bee today! Kali Horton and Brentley James represented Coleman, and Caleyn Rose and La'Kyah Buckner represented WCJH. All four scholars showed their best effort and represented their schools well. While none walked away with a win today, we can't wait to see more of the great things these amazing scholars are capable of!

Dear Watson Chapel School District Community, Out of an abundance of caution and with the safety of our scholars, staff, and families as our highest priority, all Watson Chapel School District schools and offices will be closed on Friday, January 30, 2026. While primary roadways have shown improvement, many secondary roads throughout our district remain severely impacted by ice, particularly those used for student bus routes. These hazardous conditions create significant safety concerns for our transportation operations and for families traveling to and from our schools. District leadership will continue to closely monitor weather and road conditions and hope to return to normal operations on Monday, February 2, 2026. All extracurricular activities scheduled for the remainder of the week will be rescheduled for a later date. We appreciate your continued patience, understanding, and support as we prioritize the well-being of our school community. Please continue to monitor district communication channels for the most up-to-date information. Sincerely, Dr. Keith McGee, Superintendent of Schools Watson Chapel School District
