This past Friday, we held our first Aspiring Leaders Institute session of the 2026–2027 school year with Dr. Alexis Gwin-Miller! Our aspiring leaders engaged in meaningful learning and collaboration designed to strengthen their leadership skills and prepare them to make an impact across our district. Due to a downed utility line affecting power at Coleman Elementary, the school day for Coleman Elementary students will begin at 9:00 a.m. today.
🚌 Buses for Coleman students will begin running at 8:00 a.m.
All other schools will operate on their regular schedules.

Coleman Elementary ATLAS Data Night – October 7
Coleman Elementary families are invited to attend ATLAS Data Night on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. in the Coleman Elementary Gym.
Families will connect with teachers, review ATLAS Math, Writing, Reading, and Science data, learn more about Levels 1–4, review student data binders, and receive ATLAS login information.
ATLAS Data Night is an opportunity to celebrate student growth, strengthen family-school partnerships, and provide families with a clearer understanding of academic expectations and student progress.

WCSD is proud to recognize Celebrate Freedom Week during the last full week of September.
Throughout the week, students in social studies classes will learn more about the freedoms, principles, and values that shaped our nation, while reflecting on the sacrifices made to protect those freedoms.

Coleman Elementary extends a special thank you to Alderman Steve Mays and Officer Justice Fisher, a proud Coleman graduate, for looking out for our school community!
After concerns were shared about nearby potholes, Alderman Mays quickly contacted the Pine Bluff Street Department. Mr. Brandon and Mr. Wade responded and filled several potholes, helping make travel safer for our students, families, and staff.

Early reading helps build important literacy skills before kindergarten, and this program makes it easier for families to grow a love of reading at home. ❤️📖

The WCSD Prevention Recovery Coordinators, Dr. Robin Stepps and Ms. Lavorges Canada, along with Chief Markeith Neal, were joined by representatives from the Arkansas State Police Highway Safety Office, the Arkansas Office of the State Drug Director, and The Center for Healing Hearts and Spirits.
Together, they visited each campus to assess student needs and explore ways their agencies can provide additional support and resources.
These organizations remain committed partners of the Watson Chapel School District, working collaboratively to support the safety, wellness, and success of our students.
